Most visitors book an Athens airport transfer without knowing quite what they are buying. This is what actually happens between the aircraft door and your hotel, and what to check before you pay for anything.
Arrivals at Athens International Airport
The airport is modern and easy to navigate. After passport control, if you are arriving from outside the Schengen area, you collect your bags and walk into a single arrivals hall. Many companies still wait in that hall holding printed name signs. Meet and greet versus kerbside pickup
A meet-and-greet means the driver is inside the building when you walk out, which is the simplest option after a long flight and the only practical one with children or a lot of luggage. Kerbside pickup is faster if you travel light and know the airport, but it depends on your flight landing when it said it would. Flight monitoring
A serious transfer service asks for your flight number, not just your landing time, so that the pickup moves with the aircraft. If a booking form does not ask for a flight number, that is worth noticing.
Luggage
Give the real number of suitcases when you book, including cabin bags that will not sit on a lap, and mention anything oversized: golf clubs, a pushchair, a cello. Space is far cheaper to confirm in advance than to solve at the kerb.
Late-night and early-morning flights
Athens receives a lot of late arrivals and departures before dawn. Public transport thins out at both ends of the day, so a pre-booked car is worth more then than at any other time. Tell us your time and we will be there for it.
